TAKING HEALING BY FORCE: ENFORCING GOD’S PROMISE IN A FALLEN WORLD

The question of whether we can truly experience the fullness of Psalm 103:3,

He forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.

throughout our earthly lives has stirred theological debate for centuries. Fortunately for us, Scripture provides clear guidance on the matter. However, it is imperative that we address this concern that many believers wrestle with.

If this promise is indeed for today, why do so many still suffer from disease? Does the presence of sickness indicate that God is no longer willing, that we have missed the mark, or does it simply mean we must know and contend more fiercely for the promises granted to us through the New Covenant?

The foundation of our inquiry must always be Scripture itself. Human opinions led to the fall in Genesis 3 when man trusted in his own reasoning over God’s word. If we are to align ourselves with God and His divine plan, we must return to what He has spoken rather than relying on personal experience or doctrinal traditions, which are imperfect and subjective by nature.

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6).

The Word was given so that we do not walk in ignorance, which is one of the greatest causes of suffering and destruction. If we are still ignorant, then it is by choice, since no generation has had as much access to God’s word as ours.

THE CERTAINTY OF GOD’S PROMISES

The Apostle Paul establishes a critical principle in 2 Corinthians 1:20:

“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so through him we speak the ‘Amen’ [iagreement] to the glory of God.”

This verse unequivocally states that all of God’s promises—including healing—are affirmed in Christ. However, while God’s “yes” is a legal reality, it does not automatically translate into experiential reality. The covenant structure of God’s promises necessitates our cooperation, as Amos 3:3 asks:

“Can two walk together unless they have agreed to do so?”

God does not change (Malachi 3:6; Hebrews 13:8). If He healed in the past, He heals today. The variable in this cosmic equation is clearly not God but us. Many struggle not with whether healing is available but rather with why we do not always see it manifested. As Isaiah 53:1 asks:

“Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”

The key to experiencing God’s promises—seeing His arm move on our behalf—lies in alignment with His ways and His word.

And in this context, faith is agreement and agreement is faith.

THE ORIGIN OF DISEASE AND THE NEED TO CONTEND

The presence of disease in the world is not a reflection of God’s will but rather a result of humanity’s alignment with Satan in Genesis 3. Jesus taught us to pray,

Your will be done, Your dominion come, on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10).

This demonstrates two things:

First, that God’s will is health and healing since there is no sickness in heaven, which 3 John 2 confirms:

“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”

Second, that God’s will does not come to pass automatically—it requires our cooperation to bring heaven’s reality to bear on the earth.

Through that act of rebellion—denying God’s word in Genesis 3—the enemy gained access to sow disorder and dysfunction, whether in relationships, purpose, finances, or the human body. Disease is simply one form of the “dis-ease” that the devil causes. Acts 10:38 makes this clear:

“God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.”

Jesus did not merely address symptoms; He struck at the root of the problem.

“Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places [spiritual realm]. (Ephesians 6:10–12).

There is another myth that must be addressed if we are to resist the trickery of the devil: Sickness was never depicted as God’s tool for refining His people but rather as an oppression that Christ came to destroy. The question is not whether God wants to heal but whether we know how to enforce the victory He has won over the enemy and make it our daily experience.

THE KINGDOM OF GOD SUFFERS VIOLENCE

Matthew 11:12 declares:

“From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been subjected to violence, and the violent take it by force.”

This is not a call to physical aggression but a call to spiritual determination. The kingdom of God is not passively received—it is actively seized by those who refuse to be denied.

Passive Christianity does not bring victory. If healing is ours in Christ, why do some fail to experience it? Because it must be taken by force—not force against God, but force against the enemy who seeks to withhold what rightfully belongs to us. Faith is not passive; it is an aggressive trust in God that refuses to settle for less than His full provision. Jesus has already won the battle, but it is up to us to enforce His victory in our lives.

OUR ROLE IN WALKING IN HEALING

Psalm 149:6-9 describes the authority of the saints in executing the written judgment of God:

“May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands, to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron, to enforce the sentence written against them—this is the glory [duty] of all his faithful people. Praise the Lord.”

This ties directly into our need to resist the devil, i.e., James 4:7.

“Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

and our duty to remain vigilant in faith, i.e., 1 Peter 5:8-9:

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith.”

Joshua 18:3 poses a piercing question:

“How long will you wait before you take possession of the land that the Lord, the God of your ancestors, has given you?”

Similarly, in Joshua 1:3, God declares,

“I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses.”

Healing, like any other covenant promise, requires active appropriation, participation, and cooperation.

Christianity can be called a holy partnership with God to restore His kingdom—His dominion, control, and influence—on the earth, just as it is in heaven, where the devil was expelled. Can you see the connection?

Jesus inaugurated the retaking of the earth, and He commissioned us to continue His work (Luke 10:19; Mark 16:17-18). Are we waiting for God to move, or is He waiting for us to align with Him in faith and action?

CONCLUSION

There is a blueprint for enforcing God’s will—His promises—and it’s fully revealed in His Word. Divine healing and health are not left to chance; they are part of His covenant, secured through Christ. However, there is only one way to walk in what God has provided—we must align with His Word, apply His principles, and actively contend for what is rightfully ours. Will you press in, seek understanding, and take hold of the healing and wholeness that God has already made available to you?

Psalm 103:3 remains as true today as when it was first written. Healing is not a bygone promise but a present reality for those who will contend for it. The question is not whether the promise is valid, but whether we will take hold of it and enforce it. If you would like me to write a more detailed step by step instruction on how to enforce the promises of God—including healing—then comment below and remember to subscribe!

In short, living healed doesn’t happen by chance—it happens by choice! It is our responsibility, and we must learn how to walk in it.

DEVOTIONAL PRAYER

Father,

I thank You that Your promises are eternal and unchanging. You have declared that You forgive all my sins and heal all my diseases. I choose today to align my heart, mind, and actions with Your Word. Strengthen my faith to contend for what Christ has already secured for me. I resist every work of the enemy that seeks to steal my health, and I stand firm in the victory of Jesus. Teach me to walk in the fullness of Your covenant, enforcing Your will on earth as it is in heaven.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
