LET THE WEAK SAY, “I AM STRONG”: FINDING PEACE IN THE MIDDLE OF CRAZY

AUDIO PODCAST

INVOKING THE GREAT “I AM” THROUGH STILLNESS AND HOLY PARTNERSHIP

In a world that constantly pushes us to move faster and strive harder, it is easy to forget the power that comes from simply stopping, sitting still, and focusing on God. Yet, in these moments of stillness, when we turn our attention fully to Him, we invoke the Great “I AM”—the eternal, all-powerful God who holds the universe in His hands. When we choose to wait on Him in quiet surrender, we enter into a holy partnership, where our weakness meets His strength. In these sacred moments, we can declare with confidence, “‘I am strong, because the great ‘I am’ is strong!’” for in the presence of the Almighty, our strength is renewed. This is not a strength we conjure on our own, but a divine empowerment that comes when we rest in His presence, trusting in His perfect timing and provision. Through stillness and focus on God, we invoke His name and experience the transformative power of His partnership in our lives.

Are you worried? Are you troubled? Does the weight of your burdens press heavily upon your heart, suffocating your peace and stealing your joy? In this fast-paced world, we often feel the urge to rush—rushing to solve problems, fix circumstances, or control outcomes. We race through life, believing that if we just move faster or try harder, we can change things on our own. But, in doing so, we often miss the tender invitation God gives us: to wait—to pause, to breathe, and to trust in His perfect timing and provision.

When we are caught in the whirlwind of worry, when life’s uncertainties overwhelm us, we can feel as though we are standing in the midst of a storm. Our hearts are restless, our minds are full, and the world’s demands never seem to stop. Yet, it is precisely in these moments of overwhelming stress and chaos that God calls us to a place of stillness—a place where we cease striving, let go of control, and allow Him to lift us up, renewing our strength.

Isaiah 40:31 offers a powerful promise to those who wait on God:

“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31, ESV)

This verse speaks to the strength and renewal that come from patiently waiting on God. It is not passive waiting but an active, trusting reliance on His timing and provision. In a world that constantly urges us to hurry, this verse encourages us to pause and let God restore usto wait on Him so He can equip us with the energy and endurance needed to persevere. Waiting on God doesn’t leave us empty—it renews and empowers us to rise above our circumstances, soar like eagles, and continue with strength that only He can provide.

Another verse that ties into this idea of waiting on God is Isaiah 64:4:

“For since the world began, no ear has heard and no eye has seen a God like you, who works for those who wait for him.”

In our waiting, we are not just passing time; we are preparing ourselves to receive something greater than we can fathom. God is at work behind the scenes, weaving a story for us that we cannot yet see, but we must wait patiently to witness.

Song of Solomon 6:5 speaks of the power of undivided attention:

“Turn your eyes away from me, for they have overcome me.”

There are few things more captivating than the gaze of someone utterly drawn to you. That kind of attention can be intoxicating, overwhelming—even unnerving.

Now imagine how God feels. He, too, longs for undivided attention. Not the distracted, obligatory glances we throw between our worries, not the hurried prayers squeezed into busy days. But the lingering gaze of a soul fully fixed on Him.

Psalm 46:10 beautifully captures this idea:

“Be still [lit. cease, relax, or let go], and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

In the stillness, in the letting go, we come to the realization that He is God. When we stop trying to save ourselves, when we stop rushing to fix things, we make space for God to work, to renew, to strengthen.

When we take our eyes off ourselves, stop what we are doing to save ourselves, and actively wait on Him in prayer, that is when God can be the God we expect Him to be—because we are finally treating Him as such.

We could say that when we make sure God gets what He wants, we will get what we want.

The key to unlocking our full potential lies not in pushing harder but in surrendering to something greater than us. It is in the stillness that we find the strength to soar to new heights. So let go and let God!

Prayer

Father God,
We come before You with hearts full of gratitude, thanking You for Your promise to renew our strength when we wait on You. Help us to trust in Your timing, to surrender our anxieties, and to rest in Your presence. Teach us how to actively wait on You, to give You our undivided attention, and to acknowledge Your sovereignty in every moment. May we find strength to soar like eagles, to run and not grow weary, and to walk in Your peace. We acknowledge that You are the one who lifts us up, and we place our trust in You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
