AUDIO PODCAST
Have you ever found yourself standing at the edge of a seemingly insurmountable obstacle, with no way forward and no way back? Maybe you’re facing a challenge that feels like a Red Sea, blocking your path and leaving you with nowhere to turn. The pressure of circumstances might be overwhelming, and the road ahead appears impossible. But what if I told you that the same God who parted the Red Sea for Moses and the Israelites is still in the business of making a way for His people today?
Just like Moses, if you trust in God’s promises and step out in faith, you too will experience breakthroughs in the most impossible situations.
God’s power is not limited by the challenges we face, but by the faith we have to trust in His ability to deliver. This is the story of how you can overcome your own Red Sea moments—and how the key to breakthrough is not in your circumstances but in your faith to believe that God will make a way. Keep reading, because the breakthrough you’ve been waiting for might be just one step of faith away!
WHEN ALL YOU SEE IS THE CRISIS: TRUSTING GOD BEYOND THE IMPOSSIBLE
The problem with knowing Bible stories so well is that we always see them with the end in mind. We know the Red Sea will part, the walls of Jericho will fall, and Lazarus will rise from the dead. But the people living those moments had no such certainty.
- Moses stood before an impassable sea with an army closing in.
- Joshua marched around Jericho’s walls with no visible change.
- Mary and Martha mourned their brother, believing it was too late.
They didn’t have the benefit of hindsight—we do. All they saw was the crisis, the impossibility, and the crushing weight of uncertainty. Yet, they chose to trust God anyway. And that’s where faith is tested—not when we know the outcome, but when all we have is God’s promise in the middle of our storm.
What impossible situation are you facing today? Can you trust that, just like them, your breakthrough is already written even if you can’t see it yet?
MOSES AND THE ISRAELITES
Moses and the Israelites stood trapped before the Red Sea, with nowhere to turn. Behind them, the Egyptian army was closing in, and before them lay the vast waters of the sea. There seemed to be no way out. Yet, in that moment of seeming hopelessness, they saw the power of God move in a mighty way, parting the sea and making a way where there was no way.
This same power is available to you today. If you do as Moses did—if you trust God, stretch out your faith, and speak His promises over your situation—you too will see breakthrough, no matter how impossible your circumstances may seem. God is still the same God who parted the Red Sea, and He is still in the business of making a way for His people.
“Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me [by faith and in perseverance].” (Psalm 50:15)
Every challenge you face is an opportunity to glorify God—through agreement, faith, and thanksgiving. When you speak His promises over your life and circumstances, you are declaring that He is faithful, and you are activating His power in your situation.
“For all the promises of God in Him [God says] Yes, and in Him we say Amen [we agree], to the glory of God.” (2 Corinthians 1:20)
ETYMOLOGY OF “AMEN” AND “CONFESSION” (HOMOLOGIA)
- AMEN (Hebrew: אָמֵן) means “so be it,” “truly,” or “verily.”
- Rooted ‘in ‘mn, meaning firmness, stability, and faithfulness, and means agreement.
- Declares faith in God’s promises as true and unchanging.
- CONFESSION/PROFESSION (Greek: ὁμολογία, homologia) means “to say the same,” or “to think the same.”
- Derived from homo (same) and logos (word/speech/thought).
- A confession that aligns our words with God’s truth and promises.
Your thanksgiving for God’s promises becomes your testimony. And your testimony is the glory of God! Keep calling on Him, keep trusting, and keep thanking Him for the breakthroughs you are about to see. Your challenge is not a stumbling block; it is a stepping stone to the victory that God has already promised you.
WHAT IS THAT IN YOUR HAND?
Remember when God asked Moses, “What is that in your hand?” Moses held a staff—something familiar, something he had used for years. But when Moses obeyed God’s command and stretched out that staff over the Red Sea, the waters parted, and a path was made where there was none.
In Exodus 4:20, Moses returns to Egypt with “the rod of God” in his hand, a symbol of divine authority and power. The rod, initially a simple shepherd’s staff, is transformed into a tool through which God’s miraculous works are carried out. It becomes a sign of God’s presence and the instrument by which He performs signs, wonders, and miracles, including parting the Red Sea and striking the rock for water. The phrase “the rod of God” highlights that what was once a humble object is now empowered by God’s authority, showing that even the most ordinary things, when placed in God’s hands, can become vessels of extraordinary power. It serves as a reminder that our weaknesses, when surrendered to God, are made strong in Him.
Today, the rod that represents God’s authority and power is His Word. Just as Moses used the rod to carry out God’s commands, we now wield the power of God’s Word to face obstacles and challenges. We don’t stretch out our own “rods” (words, authority, power, resources, solutions, answers) or rely on our own strength, but rather, we proclaim His promises over our circumstances, trusting that His Word will accomplish what He has sent it to do. It is through the Scriptures (God’s word) that we find the authority to overcome and the power to walk in victory.
The Word of God is our ultimate tool, just as the rod was for Moses—an instrument of divine power that works through faith and obedience.
In the same way, God is asking you today: What is in your hand? What are the tools, the promises, and the words He has already given you to speak over your circumstances? The rod that Moses held was a symbol of God’s power—God’s word. If we will praise God (for He is enthroned on our praises—Psalm 22:3) and speak His promises over our situations, we will see the same thing Moses saw: a path appearing where there was no path before.
Remember Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego? They didn’t rely on their own words, solutions, or answers; they too claimed God’s promises when they were thrown into the fiery furnace. They declared, “Though you walk through the fire, you will not be burnt,” (Isaiah 43:2) and in that moment, God was with them in the fire, walking through it with them. His word became manifest in the fire with them and became their protection and deliverance.
“Let the weak say I am strong” (Joel 3:10), for our strength is not our own, but found in the Lord. “I will say, the Lord is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust” (Psalm 91:2). And as Paul reminds us, “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31). In Him, we are more than conquerors.
ABRAHAM LEADS THE WAY IN FAITH
Choose, like Abraham, to not focus on your circumstances but on the promise of God.
“As it is written: ‘I have made you a father of many nations.’ He is our father in the presence of God in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls things into existence that do not exist. He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. He did not waver in unbelief at God’s promise but was strengthened in his faith by giving glory to God.” (Romans 4:17-20)
Abraham refused to be discouraged by what he saw; instead, he clung to what God had spoken. His faith wasn’t in his own strength but in God’s ability to fulfill His word. Today, make that same choice—fix your eyes on the promises of God, not the impossibilities before you.
So, what will you say? Which scriptures will you proclaim and declare victory over your situation? Dig in today—there is a wealth of ammunition in the Bible. If you will agree with God, praise Him, and trust His Word, He will do what you cannot and cause you to walk in a victory you couldn’t have predicted. Let your faith rise, and watch as He moves in ways that surpass your understanding.
CLOSING PRAYER
Father God,
We thank You for Your faithfulness and power. You are the God who makes a way where there seems to be no way, and we trust in Your promises. Today, we choose to stretch out our faith, to declare Your word over our circumstances, in spite of what they look and feel like. Help us to remain steadfast in our devotion to You, knowing that You are with us in every challenge we face, for you have said you will never leave us nor forsake us, and you are are our helper and if you are for us who can be against us. May our hearts be filled with praise, our mouths with thanksgiving, and our lives with victory as we honour You in all things.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
FINAL REFLECTIONS
As you face the challenges in your life, consider the following questions:
- What “Red Sea” is standing before you right now, and how can you respond in faith, just as Moses did?
- Are there areas of your life where you need to stretch out your faith, declare God’s promises, and watch for His miracle-working power?
- How can you make praise and thanksgiving a part of your daily routine, especially when facing difficulties?
- Reflect on the words of Psalm 50:15: “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.” How can you call upon God in your troubles today?
- Are there situations where you’ve been relying on your own strength, rather than trusting God to make a way? How can you surrender those situations to Him now?
Remember, your breakthrough is not just about escaping the challenge—it’s about seeing God move in your life in powerful ways. Stay faithful, keep praising, and trust in the promises of God. You have everything you need to overcome!
