THE DESERT OF LIFE: A JOURNEY BACK TO SPIRIT

We wander in the desert of life, searching for a path that leads us back to spirit—for tat elusive something that speaks to the deepest parts of our being—our true essence. We may not always call it “spirit,” in fact we rarely do, yet the pursuit of this deeper connection is universal. Ultimately, it is about coming home.—we use many names—but ultimately, we speak of home. The place we came from. The place we are destined to return to. This home is not a physical location but a return to who we truly are, the sacred and divine part of us that we may have forgotten in the chaos of existence. Our journey back to spirit is, in essence, a journey back to ourselves. It is about finding the quiet garden within, where we can encounter the peace that has always been present.

Paradoxically, it is the one place we avoid the most—the garden of our own hearts.

THE VOLUNTARY SELF-EXILE

At some point in our lives, we choose to retreat from stillness and truth. This self-imposed exile isn’t always conscious. It’s not about being cast out; it’s about the quiet, often unnoticed retreat from the simplicity of being. We’ve become restless wanderers, seeking fulfillment in external achievements, distractions, and temporary joys. But like mirages in the desert, these illusions promise something real yet never quench our thirst for peace. This exile is one of avoidance—not from others, but from our own hearts, from the stillness within that holds the key to our restoration.

In essence, we are all living in voluntary self-exile.

Like wanderers in the vast desert of existence, we roam restlessly, chasing illusions, distractions, and accomplishments—each a mirage promising fulfilment but never delivering peace.

THE ACHING LONGING FOR HOME

We call this pursuit by many names—success, freedom, identity—but deep beneath all our striving is an ache. An ache for something we cannot quite name, yet innately remember. It is the longing for home. Not a physical place, but a return to the essence from which we came—the eternal, the divine, the original breath of being.

THE PARADOX OF AVOIDING THE GARDEN

Yet, that home, paradoxically, is the one place we avoid the most: the garden of our own hearts.
We fear its silence. We mistrust its stillness. We bury it beneath layers of pain, protection, and noise. Yet it waits—untouched, unspoiled, abundant with life. The heart is not a place of weakness; it is a sacred threshold, the dwelling of Spirit, the source of courage, clarity, and belonging.

Beneath all the pursuits we chase—success, recognition, identity—there is a longing. It’s an ache that words cannot easily express. We may not even fully recognise it, yet we sense it deeply. This ache is not for a place, but for the return to a state of being we once knew, an essence that is eternal and divine. It is the feeling of homesickness for our truest self, the spirit that lies untouched beneath the layers of worldly distractions. The yearning is universal, even though it manifests differently for each individual.

It is the longing for a life lived in alignment with that which is eternal, lasting, and within us.

TO REMEMBER, NOT REGRESS

The heart, our inner garden, is the place we avoid the most. It is paradoxical because it is the very source of the peace we crave, yet we often fear it. The silence of the heart can seem daunting. The stillness we find there might feel unfamiliar, even frightening, because we have filled it with noise, pain, and distractions. We have turned away from the beauty and abundance waiting for us. Yet, the garden of our heart is not a place of weakness, but one of strength. It is where our spirit resides, offering us clarity, courage, and connection to the divine. It is a sacred threshold, the meeting point between the human and the divine, between fear and faith.

Return is not retreat.

It is to remember. To re-enter the inner sanctuary. To step out of exile and walk barefoot again in the soft soil of our truest self.

THE SACRED POWER OF WORDS

Words will save you.
They are not mere expressions or fleeting sounds; they are sacred containers, holding the very essence of the faith we seek. In their depths, we find the power to shape our reality, to call forth the divine, and to transform our inner worlds. Words, when spoken with intention and belief, become the vessels through which faith is activated and manifested in our lives.

SEEDS OF SALVATION

Words are far more than mere sounds or symbols—they are sacred vessels that carry the power of creation. The words we speak, when imbued with intention and belief, have the ability to shape our lives, to bring into being the truths we speak. Words are not just expressions; they are forces that transform. Each word we speak holds the potential to shift our inner world, to manifest the life we desire. The key to unlocking this power is to speak with faith, to use words as sacred tools to call forth the divine and to shape the reality we wish to experience.

Words, when planted, bear the harvest of the salvation we seek.

In essence, words are not just sounds or fleeting expressions; they are sacred containers of the faith we seek. Just as seeds, once planted in fertile soil, grow and yield their fruit in due season, the words we speak and internalize take root deep within our hearts and minds. Over time, these words manifest as the very salvation we long for—a harvest of healing, transformation, and divine alignment. In the journey of life, words are the seeds that nourish the soul, cultivated with faith, patience, and intention.

THE PRESENT MOMENT: WHERE TRUTH LIES

The present moment is the only true moment we have. It is the doorway to everything we seek, and yet, we often overlook it. Too often, we dwell in the past, haunted by memories and regrets, or we project ourselves into the future, filled with hopes, fears, and anxieties. Both are distractions from the now, from the one moment where life truly exists. The present is the only time where we can fully experience our divinity. When we stop looking back and forward and fully embrace the present, we come into contact with our true selves. Here is where peace is found, where the divine speaks, and where we can fully live.

You won’t find what you are looking for in the past or in the future. It is here in the present.

So often, we find ourselves trapped in the shadows of what once was or lost in the illusions of what might be. The past, with its memories and regrets, and the future, filled with hopes and anxieties, both draw our attention away from the only true moment we have: now.

Remember God is called “I AM,” not “I was,” or “I will be.”

THE LIMITS OF NOSTALGIA

Nostalgia, often cherished as a comforting refuge, is in reality a poor, pseudo-replacement for true spiritual life.
We indulge in the past, basking in its warm glow, seeking refuge in its familiarity. Yet, nostalgia only offers us a fleeting taste of what once was, but it can never return us to the fullness of life. True spiritual life does not dwell in the rear-view mirror of yesterday; it thrives in the fresh, untapped potential of now.

THE GATEWAY OF THE PRESENT

The present moment is not merely a fleeting passage of time, some sequential moment on the face of the cosmic clock—it is a gateway. In the stillness of the present, we find the doorway to everything we have ever longed for, the true essence we sought to distill from achievements, accumulation and experiences. It is in the present that all of life converges—our purpose, our love, our joy. The present moment is the intersection between the divine and the human, between the eternal and the temporary. To live in the present is to live fully, to embrace all that we are and all that we are meant to be. In the present, we find the fullness of existence, the richness of life, and the peace we seek.

In the stillness of the present, we find the doorway to all that we have ever desired—if only we stop searching in places that cannot serve us.

The present is not just a fleeting moment; it is the gateway to all we seek. It is where life, love, and purpose converge. It is here, now, in the present, that we must be, that we must live. It is here, right inside us, that we find the fullness of all we are meant to experience.

THE LANGUAGE OF THE SPIRIT

Spirit speaks in a language beyond words. It is a language of connection, of truth, and of deep knowing. Yet, we often fail to recognise it because we have become disconnected from it, dull and unconcious. The words we use to describe the longings from beyond the veil are limited, constricted by our understanding, shaped and tortured by our conditioned perceptions of reality. True spiritual language is not confined by these limitations. It is the language of the soul, the language that connects us to the divine and to the essence of who we are. Reconnecting with this language is a journey of rediscovery, of reawakening to the profound truths that have always been within us.

The words we use are not just simple tools of communication; they are vessels meant to carry the weight of our deepest truths, the sacred meanings that lie within us.

We speak in terms that are shaped by the physical limitations of the realm we are journeying through, our finite minds, and our conditioned perceptions. The words we use are but shadows of the profound truth we can feel and are meant to express. It is as if we have become illiterate in the language that spirit speaks fluently, the language that connects us to the divine, to the essence of who we are, to the core of existence itself.

We are lost, because we can’t read the map.

RECONNECTING WITH THE DIVINE LANGUAGE

The journey of spiritual awakening is a process of reconnecting with the divine language of the spirit. It is a re-learning of how to speak the words of truth, to feel deeply the language of the heart, and to align our words with the divine flow of life. This sacred language is not learned through intellectual effort but through a deepening connection to our inner selves. As we reconnect, we begin to understand the vastness and true power of the words we speak and the transformative potential they hold.

The more we speak the language of spirit, the more we align ourselves with our highest truth and the divine flow of life.

The journey of spiritual awakening is a return to this lost language, re-learning how to speak the words we once knew innately.
Only when we reconnect with this sacred language will we truly begin to understand the power of the words we speak, and the true meaning that lies beneath the surface of every utterance.

Audible words are only the tip of the iceberg.

WHAT NOW?

You can’t love what you don’t know. Listening is loving! Sit in the stillness, hear and know. Psalm 46:10 tells us to be still…know. The truth is in the silence. If you listen…you will hear… You will know… It’s not hidden from you. It’s hidden for you…in the silence.

Lastly…you are not a human being having random spiritual experiences. You are a spiritual being…having a human experience. Embrace who you really are… a divine spirit visiting earth… a cosmic traveller… It’s far too easy to become hypnotised by this material existence and forget who you were, who you are, and who you will be. Are you awake yet?

Blessings xx Have a great evening.

I look forward to meeting the real YOU!

DEVOTIONAL PRAYER

Heavenly Father,

We sit before You, longing to return to the place of peace and stillness within our hearts. Help us to silence the noise of the world and hear the quiet whisper of your spirit. We ask for the courage to walk barefoot again in the garden of our truest self. May our words be sacred vessels that carry Your truth and light. Guide us back to the present moment, where Your presence dwells. Let us embrace who we truly are: spiritual beings in human form, divinely created and meant for greatness.

In Your grace, we trust. Amen.

MEMORY VERSE

“Be still, and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10

This verse reminds us that in the stillness, we come to recognise the truth of God’s presence in our lives. It is in the quiet moments, the pauses between thoughts, where we connect most deeply with the divine. Remember, it is the cracks in the in-between that allows the light to leak in.

Embrace your cracks and stop trying to mend them. Everything in this world has cracks in it; that is how the light gets in!
