WHOEVER HAS TO HIM MORE WILL BE GIVEN

AUDIO PODCAST

INTRODUCTION: THE INVISIBLE LAW OF ATTRACTION

We see it all around us, though we don’t always pause to name it: the truth that like attracts like. Money attracts more money—the wealthy often find that opportunities and resources come to them. A tidy room tends to stay orderly, while a neglected space quickly becomes a dumping ground for more clutter. Even a single piece of rubbish can multiply until the whole space is lost to waste.

Have you noticed how one spark of understanding can ignite a flame that illuminates a whole room? This is precisely what Jesus meant when He said,

“For whoever has, to him more will be given” (Mark 4:25).

This is not an arbitrary rule. It is a deep spiritual mechanism—a magnetic force at work within the kingdom of God. What we possess and nurture attracts more of its kind. What we neglect dwindles and disappears.

THE MECHANISM OF THE WORD

The Word of God is magnetic. It is a living seed (Luke 8:11) that draws forth its own life from the soil of the heart. What you ponder, pray, and live by attracts deeper understanding. What you despise or neglect withers and dies. Understanding begets understanding. Faith begets deeper faith. The seed you value becomes the tree that shelters you.

START WHERE YOU ARE

You need not wait for some grand revelation or ideal circumstance. Begin where you are, with what you have. Begin with the one verse that stirs your soul. Begin with the one act of obedience that is before you today. The promise is sure: “to him more will be given”. The seed you honour will become the tree that shelters you.

Many people stumble because they fixate upon difficult questions—deep theological conundrums or contested debates—while ignoring the plain truths and simple obedience that stand right before them. Yet the answers to the hard questions are often rooted in understanding the simpler questions first. Think of Jacob’s ladder (Yakov HaSulam): you don’t try to stand upon the seventh rung when you’ve not yet placed a foot upon the first. Do not obsess when you encounter a difficult question. Acknowledge it, set it upon the back burner of your heart, and tend to the step that is before you. As you walk faithfully, one rung will lead naturally to the next.

THE SECRET TO UNDERSTANDING SCRIPTURE

According to Jesus, the secret to understanding the Word is not sheer intellectual prowess or mental acuity. It is not about knowing more or being able to debate better. It is about revelation—a gift granted by the Holy Spirit. As Jesus Himself said to His disciples:

“To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted” (Matthew 13:11).

Revelation can only be received when we come humbly to the Teacher and ask. As James reminds us,

“You do not have, because you do not ask” (James 4:2).

This is the defining mark of a disciple. A disciple is not merely one who can quote the words and works of Jesus. In His own day, many could recount His parables and miracles by the fireside, just as many can quote Bible verses today. But repeating Jesus’ words is not the same as knowing their heart. The difference between the masses and the disciples is revelation—a flame kindled within, granted to those who ask, seek, and wait upon the Lord.

DO NOT UNDERVALUE THE SEED

Do not undervalue the seed that has been placed within you. Do not despise it, as the Israelites despised the bread of heaven—and so missed the source of eternal life that was right in front of them, available for the picking. The Book of Numbers tells of this tragedy:

“And the people spoke against God and against Moses, ‘Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and we loathe this worthless bread’” (Numbers 21:5).

Remember, we do not see things as they truly are; what we see is a reflection of our understanding, and if the mind is blind, the eyes are useless.

They scorned the manna—the very provision and presence of God—because it came humbly, as a daily gift. Yet Jesus Himself would later declare,

“I am the bread of life; whoever comes [Grk. Keeps coming] to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty” (John 6:35).

Here was the source of eternal life, offered openly. All they had to do was pick it up and consume it. But because it came as a humble seed and not a grand spectacle, many refused it.

THE LADDER AND THE SEED

So, dear one, do not despise the first step. Do not undervalue the seed. Begin where you are. Honour the measure of understanding you have been given. Ask for more. Stay faithful with the little, knowing that in God’s hands the little becomes much. The ladder of understanding is climbed one rung, one revelation, one obedience at a time. And with each rung, the magnetic force of the Word draws forth more of itself.

THE TIME TO BEGIN IS NOW

It is never too late to begin. Never too late to sow a seed. Never too late to pick up the bread of life that has been placed before you. It doesn’t matter what your birth certificate says, what the state of the economy may be, what your bank account shows, what the doctor has declared, or what any pastor or teacher may have said. The kingdom of God operates beyond those boundaries. The God of multiplication—who turned five loaves and two fish into a feast for more than five thousand—still reigns.

If you will begin now, the God of abundance will breathe upon your obedience. He will bless and multiply your seed. Keep faith. Keep planting. Keep watering. Keep bringing your offering, however humble it may seem, to Yeshua‑Jesus. And the God of divine blessing will multiply whatever you place in His hands beyond your wildest dreams.

Today is the day. Begin where you are, with what you have, and watch the God who makes all things new transform your seed into a harvest of glory.

DEVOTIONAL PRAYER

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the seed of Your Word and the gift of understanding.
Help me to treasure it, nurture it, and walk faithfully in its light.
Teach me to ask for more, to seek the deeper things of Your heart.
May I never despise the manna You have placed before me, nor walk past the bread of life that is right within my reach.
Grant me ears to hear, eyes to see, and a heart to understand.
Through Christ, the Living Word, I pray.
Amen.

FIVE QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION

  1. What seed of understanding has God already placed within me?
  2. How can I nurture that seed this week?
  3. What areas of understanding have I neglected, and why?
  4. In what ways can I open my heart more fully to the Holy Spirit’s revelations?
  5. What step can I take today to move one rung higher on the ladder of understanding?

FINAL THOUGHT

“For whoever has, to him more will be given” is not merely a saying—it is a holy invitation. Begin where you are. Honour the seed. Clear away the rubbish. Let the magnetic Word draw forth its abundance within you. The path of the disciple is the path of the seeker—one who knows that in God’s kingdom, even the smallest seed can yield the greatest harvest.

MEMORY VERSES

“For whoever has, to him more will be given…” (Mark 4:25)

“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,
according to His power that is at work within us.” (Ephesians 3:20)
