THE AGE OF AI AND DISRUPTION: GO WHERE YOU ARE TREATED BEST

AUDIO PODCAST

CHOOSE WHOM YOU WILL SERVE

“But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve… But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15).

THE BIG QUESTION

What is the point of your life?

Here’s the truth: you were made to serve. To live is to give yourself to something or someone. The only question is: WHO?

Will you pour your best years, gifts, and energy into a system that will replace you the moment AI can do your job? Will you sell your God‑given talents to a world that takes and takes until you have nothing left?

Or will you lay down your life at the feet of the One who can multiply your gifts, restore your purpose, and pour out a blessing that no earthly boss can match?

CHOOSE WELL. CHOOSE TODAY. CHOOSE LIFE. CHOOSE THE LORD.

CURRENT SITUATION: AI & JOB DISRUPTION

We live in an age of constant noise, where every headline and rising cost of living threatens to unsettle the heart. It is easy to be consumed with worry, to rush from one urgent matter to the next, burdened by countless concerns about the state of the world, the rising cost of living, or the fragility of the future. Yet Jesus reminds us with utmost clarity,

“you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed (Luke 10:41–42).

In that scene in Bethany, Martha is distracted—bustling, striving to serve, weighed down by the tyranny of the urgent—while her sister Mary chooses the better portion: to sit at the feet of the Master, to listen, to be present. The difference is not between laziness and service, but between a heart rooted in trust versus one torn apart by anxiety. Martha allows herself to be fragmented by many cares, while Mary allows herself to be gathered by the one Caregiver who holds all things together.

Today, in an age dominated by artificial intelligence and digital distraction, that lesson is more relevant than ever. Our devices have become leashes, training us like Pavlov’s dogs to respond to every alert, every vibration—tethering us to a stream of noise and urgency that steals the space where the heart can rest. Yet no matter how advanced our tools, no matter how compelling the call of the screen, the remedy remains the same: to rest in Him, to prioritise the eternal over the ephemeral, and to remember that peace is found, not in doing more, but in being with the One who is more than enough.

SO WHAT IS HAPPENING?

Mass Layoffs & White‑Collar Risk

  • Major firms like Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Intel, and HSBC are implementing AI-driven automation, affecting dozens of thousands of jobs—especially in customer service, corporate roles, financial services, and back-office operations.
  • Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has warned that AI will replace many existing roles over time.
  • We’ve all ready seen bank tellers disappear from society and the inroad into cashier jobs has begun.
  • The biggest employer is the transport industry—about 10 million in the EU alone—and account for roughly 5 % of GD. These roles will be replaced with autonomous vehicles. Goldman Sachs calculates, autonomous trucking alone could eliminate up to 300,000 jobs per year once widespread.
  • Klaus Swab said, “Not everyone can be a robot polisher.” This is a caution, that as automation replaces many jobs (lawyers, doctors, accountants, factory workers), there won’t be enough new technical roles for everyone.

Fear of a “Bloodbath”?

  • AI threatens up to 50% of entry-level white-collar jobs in coming years.
  • Experts caution that while this disruption may feel like a “bloodbath,” it could merely signal a major labor shift—rather than complete collapse .

GLOBAL JOB DISPLACEMENT & GROWTH PATTERNS

  • Global estimates suggest 85 million jobs displaced by 2025 (World Economic Forum), and up to 800 million by 2030.
  • In the U.S., 2.4 million jobs affected (2020–2024), with another 1.1 million at risk in 2025.
  • Administrative, data‑entry, and call‑center positions are particularly vulnerable—sometimes seeing 40–50% job cuts.
  • In the UK, around 11% of full-time roles were impacted by AI in 2024; projections show up to 30% of jobs potentially automated by the early 2030s.

AI: DESTRUCTIVE OR TRANSFORMATIVE?

A Double-Edged Sword

  • AI both destroys old jobs and creates new ones—PwC projects roughly 97 million new AI roles by 2025, outpacing the 85 million displaced jobs.
  • Many companies are augmenting human roles with AI: 61% of Fortune 500 now use AI in major operations; in finance, AI supports human analysts .
  • The idea of a Universal Basic Income (UBI) is often dismissed as idealistic ‘pie-in-the-sky’ Utopian thinking. If workers aren’t being compensated fairly, pensions are dwindling, and austerity cuts are looming today while their labour still serves a purpose, one must ask: what fate awaits those labelled as, I quote, ‘useless eaters’ when their jobs disappear?

Skill Shifts & Uneven Impact

  • AI skills bring significant pay premiums, but demands are accelerating—skills needed now 66% faster than before.
  • The jobs being created cannot be cannot be occupied by those whose jobs were displaced in the first place.
  • Low‑income workers, older employees, and rural populations face higher barriers to accessing AI-ready roles.
  • It is unreasonable to assume that everyone and anyone can fulfill the new roles; they simply can’t and no amount of goodwill is going to change that.

THE IQ “GATEKEEPER” IN AN AI ERA

  • As AI replaces routine, low-IQ jobs, the threshold for employability is rising: those with IQs in the mid‑90s or higher increasingly qualify for stable positions.
  • In simple terms: jobs requiring less cognitive effort are disappearing, and more complex, adaptable roles require stronger analytical skills—areas where higher IQ provides an advantage.
  • People with lower IQ’s, skills, experience, are competing with people with more.

COMPLEMENTARY FACTORS MATTER

  • High IQ alone doesn’t guarantee success: emotional intelligence, perseverance, creativity, networking, and adaptability are essential.
  • A Reddit user captures this well: “You just need to be a regular amount of smart… but you have to use knowledge and skills to leverage that intelligence into producing real-world results.” While “Yes,” that is correct, we have already indicated why that won’t be enough.

OUTLOOK— “BLOODBATH” OR EVOLUTION?

  1. Immediate Disruption: White-collar jobs like data entry, admin, and routine legal/accounting are under heavy pressure . Even, middle management is being replaced systematically and entirely.
  2. Companies such as Retool, Yolodex, Bayer, Banks, Google, Meta, Amazon and many more are replacing managerial Layers and flattening hierarchy with AI agents
  3. Long-Term Adaptation: History suggests disruptions lead to adaptation—not extinction. Economies do restructure.
  4. Need for Reskilling: Governments and companies must support retraining and equitable access to AI tech.
  5. Augmentation vs Replacement: Many roles may be enhanced rather than eliminated, especially where human judgement remains essential .

NO DIVIDE BETWEEN SECULAR & SPIRITUAL

The separation between spiritual and secular work is a man-made distortion. In biblical reality, every honest work offered to God is holy.

“I must be holy in the work I must do, and you must be holy in the work you must do” — Mother Teresa (Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu)

Holy is only what is present to King jesus first, only then can it be used for his purpose regardless of where you are and what you are doing

All work can be worship when done with the right heart. ALL work is worship. And all worship is work. You don’t have to be behind a pulpit for your work to matter. You can teach like a teacher, build like an architect, or care for patients like a doctor — all as an offering to the Lord – if you lay your gift on the altar of prayer first.

MANY GIFTS, ONE GIVER

Each of us is created uniquely for a purpose.

The giraffe (“GhoReF” means ‘back of the neck’ in Hebrew), with its long legs and long neck, is designed to prune tall trees, allowing light and air to circulate within the canopy. Meanwhile, the dung beetle cleans the earth by burying waste, such as the digested leaves from the giraffe, deep within it, enriching the soil with nutrients that feed the very trees giraffes consume. In this way, the giraffe and the dung beetle form a vital, symbiotic partnership—a reminder that every creature has a unique purpose and a gift with which to fulfill it.

We do not operate in isolation, but in harmony and interdependence. Just as the giraffe relies on the dung beetle to complete the cycle of life, so too are we called to live in community — each with unique gifts, each fulfilling a role that supports and strengthens the whole. Our lives are woven together like the strands of a tapestry, where the flourishing of one enriches the many. To embrace this truth is to step into the fullness of God’s design, recognising that together we reflect His creativity, His wisdom, and His boundless love.

That includes you and I. We too have been designed with a gift and a calling—a unique place within the intricate design of God’s kingdom. You are God’s gift to mankind, a supernatural tool wrapped in a natural body, fashioned with intention and purpose. Yet like any tool, you must be connected to its source of power. It is only when you “plug in” to the Lord through prayer that your gift comes alive, that your calling finds its voice, and that you bear fruit in a world desperate for His light.

INPUT VS OUTPUT: THREE REALMS

All work operates within three levels:

  1. Body (Action ➔ Result): Effort‑driven work—swimming just to stay afloat.
  2. Soul (Thought ➔ Leverage): Wisdom‑driven work—building a boat, sails, motorization, more result for less effort.
  3. Spirit (Faith ➔ Miracles): God‑driven work—walking on water. The output is disproportionate because the input is obedience and trust.

Motors break down, the wind dies, genuine autonomy is found when we live in alignment with God that enables us to do the impossible and “walk on water.” The power of the Bread of Heaven—His Word, His promises in the Bible, and His presence in prayer—empowers us to walk upon turbulent waters and rise above the chaos of the world.

This present crisis in the world—with its rising costs, political tensions, and deep uncertainty—provides an ideal opportunity to reconsider which economy we truly belong to. The pressures we feel every day are a reminder that the world’s economy is built on scarcity, striving, and fear. Yet Jesus calls us to a higher reality, an eternal kingdom where resources flow from abundance, where trust replaces worry, and obedience unlocks provision. This is the moment to discern the shift from the world’s economy to Heaven’s economy—to step out of the tyranny of urgency and into the rest and richness of God’s kingdom. Here, our worth is not measured by what we accumulate, but by how deeply we abide. Here, peace is found not in doing more, but in being fully present with the One who is more than enough.

ABIDE TO EMPOWER

While the world will say “don’t worry,” while fears of mass unemployment aren’t unfounded, job evolution, not annihilation is the key. The world says, the situation is similar to the transition from the agrarian economy to the to the industrial economy, and success in this shift simply depends on reskilling, policy intervention, and collaborative adaptation—so that the human workforce isn’t left behind.

Scripture issues a stark warning,

“While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.” (1 Thessalonians 5:3)

Instead God has always offered a different prescription to what ails the world.

“Remain in Me, and I will remain in you… apart from Me you can do nothing” (John 15:4–5)

If we are honest, each of us chooses to live ‘apart’ or ‘connected’—to walk through life disconnected from the Source, or to abide in Him, plugged into His life and power. Through our private and corporate spiritual practice, we remain united with Christ, and in that connection,

“we can do all things through Him who strengthens [*] us” (Philippians 4:13, ESV)

  • Greek endynamoō (empower)  → dynamoō  (dynamo) → dynamis  (dynamite)
  • We are dynamite/dynamo wrapped in human flesh waiting for a holy spark

The greatest work we can do is to remain in Christ. Without this spiritual practice, our “faith batteries” run dry, and we bear no lasting fruit. We must remain plugged in.

“I can do all things through him who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13)

THE WARNING OF THE MANNA

“And when the Israelites saw it, they said to one another, ‘What is it?’” (Exodus 16:15)

Manna means “What is this?”—a gift from God that Israel came to despise.

“We loathe this worthless bread” (Numbers 21:5)

“I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst…At this, the Jews began to grumble about Jesus because He had said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.”” (John 6:35-41)

Today, the risk is no different. Will we reject the spiritual “manna”—the Word, prayer, obedience—in favour of digital distractions? Will we let the voice of the world drown out the whisper of the Spirit? Without this daily bread, we lose strength, direction, and intimacy.

THE REALITY WE FACE

CANARY IN THE COALMINE

Today, in the UK, we witness a warning sign. More than 55% of households now receive more in benefits than they pay in taxes people swimming desperately against the economic current, just to keep their heads above water. Meanwhile, the ‘boats’—huge corporations—are growing larger but fewer in number, and they have less room for those still trying to climb aboard

Meanwhile, the top 1% of taxpayers bear nearly 30% of the tax burden—and many of them are fleeing the country like rats leaving a sinking ship. The result is a society relying more and more on those who can swim just to stay afloat, while others build boats and pray the wind doesn’t die. But winds fail. Motors break down. And captains eventually make deckhands redundant. European business ad political leaders are already using the term “managed decline” frequently.

This is simply code for “stay calm, the ship is sinking.” But they are not calm, they are scrambling behind the scenes to save themselves.

This isn’t just a UK phenomenon—it’s a warning sign for Europe and the rest of the Western world. The UK is simply the canary in the coal mine, ahead of the curve; but the whole West is rapidly following suit. In our globally interconnected economy, whatever impacts one country inevitably reverberates across the rest

The lesson? True security doesn’t come from striving harder, summoning more grit or will power, nor from relying on others (the captains) for rescue. It comes from anchoring ourselves in Christ through…spiritual practice, serving Him with the gifts He has placed within us.

THE CALL TO HOLY SERVICE

Will you serve a tyrant (the world) or the Saviour? Will you remain a slave to the noise, or will you accept the calling to bear holy fruit?

Civilisation strives to defend itself from the chaos of life, building higher walls and deeper moats. But the Christian answer is different:

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1)

  • Where the world strives for security, God offers rest.
  • Where mankind toils for strength, God provides grace.
  • Where man finds fear, God grants peace.

BEGIN WHERE YOU ARE

If you don’t know where to start, begin with Jesus. Begin with step one:

“Present your bodies [abiding prayer] as a living sacrifice” (Romans 12:1)

Keep coming to Him—as often as you can, as long as you can. In a world that pushes you towards superficiality and looking the other way, guard your sacred time. Nature abhors a vacuum, and if you don’t intentionally fill your heart with God, it will be filled by something else.

Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain; unless the LORD [eternal One] protects the city, its watchmen stand guard in vain.It is worthless for you to rise early and stay up late, to eat the bread of anxious toil, for He gives rest to His beloved” (Psalm 127:1-2)

Repentance means turning from the noise and chaos of this world, and choosing to dwell in the secret place—making Him your source of strength and ability through your sacrificial prayer.

THE CALL TO ACTION

Go where you are treated best. Always put Christ first. Choose wisely where you invest your gifts, talents, and energies. The world will consume and discard you, but God will multiply and elevate what you offer to Him.

Fortunately, no matter one’s intelligence, background, education, talents, culture, gender, or race, faith stands as the great equaliser—leveling the playing field for all humanity. It is the divine force that transcends every human distinction and limitation. At the foot of the cross, every barrier is broken down; the ground is perfectly even. Here, no one is elevated above another, and all who come receive the gift of grace by faith alone.

As the Apostle Paul powerfully declares,

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that saves to everyone who believes (Romans 1:16).

Salvation is not reserved for the wise, the mighty, or the learned, but freely given to all who place their trust in God.

Furthermore, faith is nurtured and strengthened by hearing the Word of God.

“As a consequence, faith comes from hearing and hearing the word of God,” (Romans 10:17).

So be careful who you lends your ears out to.

This divine truth reassures us that no matter who we are or where we come from, faith is accessible and transformative—inviting us all into a new reality where grace reigns supreme.

In this great equaliser, every soul finds hope, every heart finds peace, and every life is made whole. Let us embrace this truth with courage, knowing that through faith, the power of God is at work to save, uplift, and renew all who believe.

Just like in the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, the power to touch the heavens didn’t come from Jack’s effort, wisdom, knowledge, grit, or hustle. The power was in the seed itself—and it was unleashed when it was planted. God’s Word is that seed (Luke 8:11), and when we plant it in our hearts, it carries Heaven’s power to transform any person or situation.

AI makes a good servant, but a poor master. It can enhance our work, expand our reach, and solve complex problems—but it can never replace the soul’s deepest need for connection with the Divine, and it is definitely not a Saviour. The only true way to outpace AI, and indeed the challenges of life itself, is to abide in prayer and feast daily on the bread of Heaven. It is in this sacred communion that we find wisdom beyond algorithms, strength beyond data, and a peace that transcends understanding.

By abiding in Christ, we charge our faith‑batteries—in proportion to which our gifts, spiritual and otherwise, function as supernatural tools, enabling us to walk on water even when the wind is howling and the waves are roaring.

MATTHEW 14:29

Today is the day to make a choice. Begin with Jesus. Stay with Jesus. Keep coming to Him—for in Him, your calling finds its true, holy purpose. He will always treat you the best!

5 REFLECTION QUESTIONS

  1. Whom am I truly serving with my time, talents, and attention?
  2. What distractions or “noises” are pulling me away from resting in Christ?
  3. In what ways can I use my gifts as an offering to the Lord?
  4. Am I relying more on worldly wisdom or the power of prayer?
  5. What can I do today to abide more deeply in God’s presence?

MEMORY VERSE

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
(Philippians 4:13)

PRAYER

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for reminding me that You are my source of strength, peace, and purpose. In a world of noise and uncertainty, help me to rest in You, to abide in Your Word, and to use every gift You’ve placed within me for Your glory. Grant me the courage to serve You with a whole heart and to trust that You will multiply all I surrender to You.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
