“SAVED” FROM WHAT? THE GREAT DELUSION OF THE MODERN CHURCH

AUDIO PODCAST

That might sound heretical—until you look deeper.

here’s the inconvenient truth: You can’t save someone who thinks they’re already saved. Even when their life shows every symptom of bondage, poverty, fear, and disempowerment.

Millions of professing believers are suffering socio-economically, psychologically, relationally, spiritually—yet refuse to question whether they’ve ever really stepped into the fullness of what “salvation” means.

PART I: WE DON’T KNOW WHAT “SALVATION” MEANS

The problem begins with a shallow gospel. We’ve reduced salvation to a moment, a sinner’s prayer, a future escape plan. But biblically, salvation is a total transformation of your existence—now and forever.

Let’s define our terms:

📖 BIBLICAL TERMS FOR SALVATION & WHOLENESS

WordLanguageMeaning
Sōtēria (σωτηρία)GreekRescue, deliverance, preservation; total well-being, restoration to wholeness
Sozō (σῴζω)GreekTo save, heal, preserve, make whole; used for physical healing and spiritual deliverance
Shālōm (שָׁלוֹם)HebrewPeace, harmony, completeness, welfare; nothing missing, nothing broken
Shālām (שָׁלַם)HebrewTo be safe, made full, to restore or repay; to finish a transaction in full
Yeshua / Shuah (יֵשׁוּעַ)HebrewSalvation, deliverance, victory, rescue; a personified promise

True salvation is not merely going to heaven—it’s entering God’s household economy, where wholeness, justice, and peace reign.

PART II: IF YOU DON’T KNOW THE REAL THREAT, YOU WON’T SEEK REAL SAFETY

“You will never look for safety if you don’t know there’s an existential threat.”

The Church has been lulled into a false sense of security. Because they prayed a prayer. Because they attend a service. Because they’ve been told they’re “saved.”

But what if you’ve been misdiagnosed?

  • What if what’s crushing you isn’t just “life being hard”—but a fundamental misalignment with the Kingdom economy?
  • What if your stress, anxiety, debt, and powerlessness aren’t just “trials” but symptoms of slavery—economic, spiritual, and mental?

THREE ISSUES YOU MUST RECTIFY

→ You’ve been told your problem is sin in the moral sense.
→ But the deeper problem is bondage to the wrong master.
→ You’re living under the tyranny of Pharaoh, not in the land of promise.

And that means you’re not looking for rescue because you don’t realise you’re still living like a slave in Egypt under “Pharaoh’s” boot.

BONUS PROBLEM: YOU THINK YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO SAVE YOURSELF

“‘Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of Hosts.”Zechariah 4:6

If Satan can’t keep you from being religious, he’ll tempt you to rely on your own strength—pushing you into hustle, striving, and burnout disguised as spirituality. The devil’s business is busyness. But God doesn’t operate that way. He says,

Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10).

Much of the modern Church is filled with believers trying to survive Babylon by adopting its systems, its pace, its pressure—instead of resting in the abundance and rhythm of the Kingdom.

You are not called to survive the systems of this world. You are called to exit them.

THE WRONG HOUSEHOLD: WHY WE’RE STILL BROKE AND BURNT OUT

Christians are still labouring in the wrong economy—the oikonomia tou kosmou, the world’s household management—when they’re meant to operate in God’s oikonomiaoikonomía tou ouranoû—the economy of Heaven.

ETYMOLOGY

  • Oikonomia (οἰκονομία) – Greek for household management, from oikos (house) + nomos (law/order).
  • Originally referred to the stewardship and resource distribution of a household—later the economy of a state or empire.

Today, we serve Mammon’s oikonomia, a broken system that:

  • Rewards the wicked,
  • Enslaves the righteous,
  • Devalues labour,
  • And denies shalom.
  • Is rife with corruption.
  • It is a game of Monopoly that you arrive too late to.

You’ll never rise to the top by playing the world’s game with the the worlds rules.

Yet God’s economy—His Kingdom—operates on a completely different logic:

  • Seed becomes abundance.
  • Rest multiplies strength.
  • Obedience opens overflow.
  • Sons, not slaves, inherit the house.
  • Faith produces miracles.
  • At the foot of the cross, the playing field is perfectly even.

THE CALL: COME OUT OF HER, MY PEOPLE

You are not meant to survive inside the world’s collapsing economy (yes, it is!). You are called to live inside the provision of the Father’s house.

“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies… my cup overflows… I lack nothing” — Psalm 23:5
“In My Father’s house are many rooms…” — John 14:2
“Come out of her, My people, lest you share in her sins and receive her plagues.” — Revelation 18:4

FINALLY

You were never meant to merely survive inside the world’s collapsing economy—crumbling beneath the weight of its own greed and injustice. This broken system cannot sustain you, nor will it satisfy the deepest longings of your soul. But there is another place, a higher realm of provision and peace: the Father’s house.

And you don’t have to sell your soul to be a part of it.

This is not wishful thinking or more Christianese, but a present reality for those who trust in Him. In His Father’s house are many rooms (John 14:2)—a place of belonging, abundance, and eternal security. Here, no scarcity can touch you; no fear can bind you.

Hear the Shepherd’s voice.

The invitation is urgent and clear: God is calling His beloved children to step away from the sinking ship of worldly systems and into the shelter of His Kingdom, where provision is perfect and peace is unfailing.

This is your call to freedom, your call to faith, and your call to a new economy—one built not on shifting sand, but on the unshakable Rock of Christ. Will you answer? Will you walk out of the chaos and into the fullness of God’s promises? Will you enter and access Heaven’s economy?

Rise, beloved. The table is set. Your cup overflows. You lack nothing. Come home.

PRAYER

Father, awaken us to the true meaning of salvation.
Break the illusion that we are already whole when we are still living in bondage.
Expose the false comforts and self-effort that keep us enslaved.
Teach us what it means to be truly saved—not just from sin, but from Pharaoh’s system.
Transfer us into Your household, Your economy, Your Kingdom.
Not by might, not by power, but by Your Spirit.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.

MEMORY VERSE

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall want for nothing.” —Psalm 23:1

QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION

  1. What does “salvation” mean to me—and how does that compare to the biblical definition?
  2. In what ways am I still trying to save myself?
  3. Am I operating in God’s economy or surviving in the world’s?
  4. What signs in my life reveal that I may still be in Egypt?
  5. How can I begin to step fully into God’s household and let go of Babylon?
