MINING GOD’S WORD: TREASURES FOR EVERY LEVEL

Dear Friends,

I’ve been reflecting on the way we engage with Scripture, and I realise that while I have a deep fascination with the intricate layers of Bible study—exegesis, historical context, word studies, and theological depth—not everyone shares the same passion for mining so deeply.

For this reason, I’ve decided to simplify the teaching in my blogposts, focusing on clear, practical insights that are accessible to everyone. Alongside this, I will be introducing a daily devotion—a simple, engaging moment you can connect with each day to activate your spirit, nurture your faith, and experience God’s presence in the midst of your life.

When we study the Word, there are many levels of engagement:

  1. Alluvial gold the treasures lying just on the surface, immediately visible and ready to enrich your life.
  2. Panning for God in diverse streams—sifting through ideas and teachings to find those nuggets that resonate deeply.
  3. Digging shallow pits–a more deliberate exploration, uncovering truths that require time and reflection.
  4. Sinking deep shafts–diving into the richest veins of gold, the profound discoveries that transform understanding and life.

Everyone is mining at a different level, and sometimes we just want the “time” without needing to know every detail of how the watch is made. That’s why my simplified teaching and daily devotions aim to provide nourishment, encouragement, and practical activation for your spirit.

Yet, for those who delight in the deeper treasures, from time to time I will share directions to shafts where I’ve discovered particularly rich veins of gold—insights that can take your study to another level. These will be optional guides for those who wish to dig deeper, while still allowing everyone to be fed at the level they are ready to receive.

Ultimately, my heart is that everyone—whether shallow or deep in their study—can engage with God’s Word and experience the joy, wisdom, and life that come from it.

With warmth and faith,
Peter
