SCRIPTURE
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is when brothers [men and women in Christ] dwell together in unity!
It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard,
on the beard of Aaron, running down on the collar of his robes!
It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion!
For there the LORD has commanded the blessing, life forevermore.”
(Psalm 133:1–3)
The psalmist’s second metaphor—the dew of Hermon falling on Mount Zion—evokes abundance and refreshment. Mount Hermon, far to the north, was famous for its heavy dew that nourished the land. Zion, though distant, receives this same grace through divine condensation.
In the same way, what begins at the Head flows to the Body. The blessing of Christ’s resurrection life—the dew of the Spirit—descends upon all who are joined to Him through spiritual practice—abiding!. There, in that unity, the Lord commands the blessing. It is not requested; it is decreed.
“For there the LORD has commanded the blessing, life forevermore.”
In Hebrew, chayyim ad ha-olam—life that transcends time, eternal vitality, the unending current of divine life. In the New Testament this life is called “Zoe“—everlasting abundant life, i.e., life as God enjoys it!
We are all brothers and sisters in Christ, not by sentiment but by spiritual genealogy. The same oil that anointed the Head flows through us all. To divide ourselves—by gender, race, denomination, or pride—is to deny the very nature of the anointing we claim.
We are not competing individuals seeking personal blessing; we are a single organism through which the blessing flows.
PRAYER OF UNITY IN CHRIST
Lord of life,
May the same grace that crowned the Head flow through His members.
Let the anointing oil of unity run down from Christ to His Church,
until every difference is swallowed in love,
every wound is healed by mercy,
and every heart beats with one rhythm—Your own.Teach us, O God, that blessing is not a private possession but a shared inheritance.
Where brothers and sisters dwell together in harmony,
You have commanded the blessing—chayyim ad ha-olam—
life unending, overflowing, unconquerable. So we yield to Your divine condensation,
that the dew of Heaven may gather upon us anew.
Make us one in Spirit, one in love, one in purpose,
that the world may see the radiance of Zion—
a people alive with eternal vitality,
carrying the fragrance of resurrection wherever they go.Amen.
