“For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on You.”
2 Chronicles 20:12
DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT
Life often presents us with battles far larger than our resources or understanding. In 2 Chronicles 20, King Jehoshaphat faced an overwhelming army. The threat was real, yet his first response wasn’t just panic—it was panic channeled into prayer. He acknowledged his weakness but placed his trust in God’s strength.
That is, he shifted his focus from the problem to the divine problem solver.
Jehoshaphat’s declaration, “our eyes are on You”, is a timeless posture for every believer. Faith does not eliminate the challenge; it changes how we engage with it. Faith is the quiet courage to stand when fear wants to make us run or hide, the calm assurance that the battle is God’s even when the odds are against us.
Standing by faith is not a passive act—it is active dependence. It is lifting our hearts and voices in prayer, offering praise before victory is visible, and trusting the One who holds the outcome. As we face our own “vast armies” today—fear, uncertainty, financial or health struggles, or relational conflicts—we are called to stand in the same faith Jehoshaphat modelled.
KEY: Mature faith does not allow circumstances to dictate focus. Mature faith chooses where it focuses its attention.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father,
I acknowledge that my strength alone is not enough to face the battles before me. Yet You are steadfast, trustworthy, and faithful. Lord, teach me to stand in emunah (faith), to trust You fully, and to rely on Your unfailing faithfulness.Let my heart be firm like the root of aman, making my faith active and unshakeable. May every word I speak be an agreement with Your truth, an amen to Your promises, confirming them in my life.
Father, when fear rises or circumstances seem overwhelming, remind me that I am anchored in You. Help me to keep my eyes on You, to lift my voice in praise, and to stand unwavering, knowing that You fight for me.
So be it, Lord—amen.
Faith is agreeing with God, not your circumstances.
